Climber Sonya Wilson has created ways for other deaf climbers to spend time together in the outdoors.

She has created many signs for climbers, such as tapping her helmet twice when she’s ready to be lowered down off the wall. A decade ago, she created the ASL Climbing Network, a way for climbers to connect with one another.

To help people better understand Wilson's group , Spruce Tone Films has released a new, entirely nonverbal film, called Elevated. Filmmaker Palmer Morse shares how Wilson advocates to bridge the gap between the deaf community and the outdoor industry.
