Bunn has profound hearing loss and wanted to require the shoe maker to accommodate the deaf and hard of hearing at its stores. She had visited a San Diego Nike store where the sales clerk was wearing a mask that was not clear, so she wasn’t able to read lips.”
Nike has agreed to pay Bunn $5,000 and her attorneys $85,000. More importantly, every Nike store in California must now provide transparent face masks to employees and post signs
at entrances advising deaf or hard of hearing customers they may ask for assistance.
