AMC Planning First Major US Series Created & Written by Deaf People
Disquiet will star Shoshannah Stern who audiences may know from the Sundance Now series This Close and ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy.
She wrote Disquiet herself and will also serve as the executive producer. Producers have a shared commitment to representation of the deaf community in front of and behind the camera. Stern also served as an executive story editor for upcoming Marvel series Echo.
The one-hour thriller Disquiet will focus on certified deaf interpreter Cassie Edwards. The former head of the school for the Deaf she attended has been murdered and Edwards has been called back to her home to help solve the mystery. The only witness is a former student.
Shoshannah is fourth-generation deaf and is the only deaf actor to ever have a role on two prime-time TV shows at the same time.
