Docu Shows lack of Accessibility for Florida Deaf

Being Michelle tells the story of Michelle Ricks, a deaf woman with autism, who survived five years of incarceration and abuse in north central Florida.

Now she uses her artwork to help her heal from the past. Ricks did not have access to an interpreter during her years in prison. The filmmakers say the issue isn't just a Florida problem: It is a nationwide issue.


Being Michelle has already won the audience award for best documentary feature at the this year's Florida Film Festival.
